Job summary

City of Gainesville is seeking an entry-level Administrative/Technical professional to support the Permit Expeditor Team. You will review, route, and track permits, code enforcement complaints, and licenses for residential rental units, while delivering excellent customer service.

This role reports to a supervisor and focuses on entry-level duties within the permitting process. You will pre-screen development plans, monitor application status, and assist applicants.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to learn and apply Florida Building Code, Residential Rental Housing Ordinance, City Code ordinances, and the International Property Maintenance Code.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide a direct link between citizens and the department.
• Guide citizens through the permitting process and answer inquiries.
• Pre-screen development plans for sufficiency.
• Monitor applications and assist with development plan reviews.
• Develop and track permit activity and related reports.
• Process permit payments and reconcile cash daily.
• Register new contractors and manage insurance records.
• Track inquiries and respond to emails for Building, Planning, Rental Housing, and Code Enforcement.
