Qualifications

• Completion of a CoARC approved respiratory care program.
• 1 year of experience as an RCP in an acute care facility or completion of the LPCHS Respiratory Care Residency Program.
• BLS - Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support
• RCP license from California
• RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist
• ACLS - Adult Cardiac Life Support

Responsibilities

• Administers aerosolized medication via IPV, HHN, MDI/DPI.
• Administers medical gases including heated high flow nasal cannula.
• Performs routine trach care and changes.
• Performs age-specific assessments.
• Documents results in the EMR.
• Performs airway clearance therapies and bedside pulmonary mechanics.
• Recognizes life-threatening situations and initiates response (CPR).
• Performs nasotracheal and artificial suctioning.
• Provides education to patients and families.
