Job summary

Las Cruces Wellness & Rehabilitaiton is seeking a Payroll Specialist to handle facility payroll, HR and benefits operations in line with company policies and laws. You will oversee employee relations, benefits, leave, recruiting, onboarding, terminations, and unemployment claims, ensuring accurate payroll processing.

The role emphasizes confidential handling of sensitive information, attention to detail, and compliance with federal and state guidelines.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ proven experience as a payroll specialist.
• Current knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines and regulations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and payroll application systems.
• Strong understanding of payroll accounting and payroll best practices.
• Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material.
• Must have strong detail orientation and high accuracy level.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates payroll information by completing payroll preparation, reports and maintaining records.
• Manages day-to-day activities of payroll and human resources tasks with urgency and sensitivity.
• Performs all daily, weekly, and pay period close responsibilities related to payroll processing.
• Maintains, prepares, and processes semi-monthly payroll for 50-1100+ internal employees.
• Processes Time Keeping daily for distribution to department heads for review and correction.
• Reconciles payroll prior to transmission and validates reports.
• Manages payroll variables such as shift differentials, overtime, on call, employee status, etc.
• Maintains personnel files and time keeping to ensure accurate and timely payroll transactions.
• Ensures confidentiality of records and information.
• Documents and maintains all progressive disciplinary actions and performance management.
• Partners with hiring managers to determine staffing needs; screens and recommends candidates.
• Executes hiring process through review of new applications to set up interviews.
• Participates in Employee Appreciation Committee and assists in coordinating Employee Recognition Programs.
• Maintains recruitment and retention documentation.
• Acts on behalf of the Human Resources Manager when unavailable.
• Coordinates in ensuring compliance with company pay and benefits policies.
• Coordinates in ensuring all new/rehired employees are entered in the payroll system.
• Coordinates in ensuring the payroll system is updated with all changes.
• Coordinates in ensuring compliance with Department of Labor/Wage and Hour regulations.
• Communicate new and existing benefits programs and participate in unemployment hearings.
