Job summary

Confluence Health is seeking an entry level Ophthalmic Technician I to support our Eye Care Center. You will assist ophthalmologists/optometrists with technical patient services and learning through our training program.

Responsibilities include gathering histories, performing basic eye tests, imaging, and assisting with injections and lasers. The role involves travel to outreach areas, maintaining instruments, and educating patients per protocol.

Qualifications

  • Entry level position with on-the-job training.
  • MA-R licensure required from WA State Department of Health (upon hire).
  • Surgical Technologist licensure required (upon hire).
  • CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Manual dexterity and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to relate effectively to patients and the public.
  • Strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with ophthalmic procedures and terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Gather patient history and verify purpose of visit.
  • Perform basic vision tests and standard work-up by exam type.
  • Manage patient workflow for efficiency.
  • Instill topical ophthalmic drops/ointments as directed.
  • Obtain vital signs per protocol.
  • Prepare rooms, restock supplies and calibrate instruments.
  • Assist with ophthalmic imaging and in-office procedures (injections/lasers).
  • Educate patients per physician/department protocol.
  • Maintain knowledge of ophthalmic coding and anatomy.
  • Travel to outreach areas with provider; time and mileage reimbursed.
