Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and completion of an approved Medical Assistant Training program.
• No experience required.
• Current certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited organization; must obtain certification within six months of employment if not certified.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Schedules patient tests, procedures, and appointments.
• Enters orders for patient tests and obtains proper paperwork.
• Performs routine patient care responsibilities such as taking vital signs.
• Collects patient history, performs medication reconciliation and enters information in the EMR.
• Sets up instruments and equipment for physician.
• Notes the primary complaint/reason for visit.
• Manages and coordinates incoming patient referrals.
• Manages in-basket messages.
• Reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
• Administrative responsibilities such as filing and/or scanning patient medical records.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
