Job summary

Charles River Laboratories seeks a Technician I – Necropsy for the 1st Shift Pathology Services Team in Mattawan, MI. The role includes learning basic necropsy procedures and animal handling while under close supervision.

Pay is $20/hour with schedule Mon-Fri 8:00am–4:30pm plus weekend/holiday rotation and possible overtime. Responsibilities include euthanasia and post-mortem exams, data collection and documentation, QC review, instrument use, and sample handling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; BA/BS in biological science preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities to achieve goals.
• Computer skills (MS Office) and ability to learn validated systems.
• Commitment to safety and GLP/SOP/BOP compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform euthanasia and post-mortem examination of animals for pathology review.
• Train in onboarding skills including animal handling, sedation, dissection, sampling, and lab prep.
• Collect, document, review, and verify data in forms or electronic systems.
• Review quality control documentation and maintain equipment.
• Learn anatomical terms and handle samples as required.
• Work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
