Job summary

Socket.dev is hiring for a broad, entry-level engineering role in San Francisco. You will start with well-scoped projects spanning machine learning, geometry, graphics, and data systems, learning the full system and taking on more ownership over time. No CAD/manufacturing background required.

You will build and maintain data pipelines for CAD, write evaluation tooling, and support model training. A generalist mindset and initiative are prized, with visa sponsorship possible for the right

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of software engineering experience or internships/research.
• Hands-on experience with machine learning training, data pipelines, internal tooling, or similar work.
• Strong programming ability in Python and/or C/C++.
• Track record of finishing difficult work and taking initiative without detailed instructions.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain geometry/data pipelines for CAD formats and feature extraction.
• Write evaluation harnesses and tooling to measure model performance improvements.
• Support ML training runs, instrument systems, debug failures, and present results clearly.
• Build internal tools to remove friction for researchers and engineers.
• Work across the stack and deepen expertise where it matters most.
• Own challenging technical problems in collaboration with a small, experienced team.
