Job summary

Fresh Mark, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Microbiology Lab Technician to perform general microbiological lab work and routine testing for food and environmental samples.

The role supports accurate test results and applies appropriate techniques to ensure validity. You will join a team focused on environmental monitoring, documentation, and collaboration with Production, Maintenance, and Sanitation to drive corrective actions and quality improvements.

Qualifications

• Degree, coursework, or experience in Microbiology, Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related scientific field preferred.
• Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Flexible schedule with occasional early mornings, shift work, and weekends as needed.
• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental and microbiological sampling according to the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP).
• Collect, label, document, and manage environmental swabs and samples.
• Perform routine testing including pre-operational, contact surface, air, water, and compressed air sampling.
• Partner with Production, Maintenance, and Sanitation teams on root cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Maintain environmental monitoring documentation and cleaning schedules.
• Monitor microbiological inventory and testing supplies.
• Support customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
• Participate in food safety, sanitation, microbiology, and capital project meetings.
