Job summary

University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) seeks an Entry-Level Mechanical Technician to support testing of advanced composite materials. You will work with test engineers to fabricate samples, perform measurements, and assist with equipment setup in a hands-on laboratory.

Training is provided and you will gain experience with Instron BHU and MTS TestWorks 4 while learning safety and data collection procedures under experienced staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety procedures in a lab environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint to record data and manage records.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation, machining, and fabrication of composite test coupons and specimens.
• Support mechanical testing and data collection under supervision.
• Perform basic measurements and metrology checks.
• Help assemble and maintain mechanical and hydraulic test systems.
