Job summary

SMP Engineering, Inc in Glendale, CA seeks an entry-level Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, test, and validate mechanical systems for aerospace/defense projects. This role is 100% on-site and requires hands-on collaboration with manufacturing and project teams.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with 0-2 years of internship or work experience and strong CAD skills (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 1–2 years internship/experience in mechanical design, development, and analysis.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, etc.).
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and GD&T.
• Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Hands-on machining/hand tools experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test mechanical systems and components.
• Create detailed engineering drawings and specifications using CAD software (Solidworks).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, electrical, and project management.
• Oversee prototype development, testing, and validation.
• Improve manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control guidelines.
