Job summary

Battelle in Columbus, OH is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineer who will design, test, and integrate mechanical systems across diverse platforms including marine, aerospace, robotics, and defense. Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 4 years of relevant experience
• Working knowledge of CAD/modeling programs, specifically SolidWorks and Creo
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Curious, problem-solving mindset with a desire to develop creative solutions and perform system troubleshooting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project and Visio
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team
• Desire for hands-on experience in lab and shop environments
• US citizenship and willingness to obtain and maintain a government TS/SCI security clearance

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and develop mechanical components and systems across diverse platforms including marine, aerospace, robotic, and defense systems
• Support hands-on laboratory work including assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of complex integrated systems
• Generate and interpret engineering schematic and drawing packages, applying GD&T to support fabrication
• Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks and/or Creo) to develop and refine mechanical designs
• Apply principles of machining and fabrication to translate designs into manufacturable solutions
• Collaborate with Battelle engineers across multiple sites to design, fabricate, and integrate new mechanical systems
• Apply engineering, physics, and materials science to mechanical designs
• Prepare technical reports, test plans, test reports, system manuals, and operating instructions
• Present design concepts and task status to internal stakeholders
• Collaborate across technical disciplines to solve challenging, real-world engineering problems
