Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking an Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer to support the Cities & Places team in planning, design, and delivery of building systems across commercial, healthcare, education, government, science, and technology facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience including internships/co-ops.
• Familiarity with Revit through coursework or experience.
• Basic understanding of mechanical building systems and engineering principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Support design and analysis of mechanical building systems (HVAC, plumbing).
• Assist in preparing calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documents.
• Develop and modify design drawings using Revit and other tools.
• Coordinate with architects, structural/electrical engineers and other stakeholders.
• Participate in site visits, field investigations, and construction support activities.
• Assist with equipment selection, system layouts, and energy-efficient design solutions.
• Support project managers and senior engineers with delivery tasks and documentation.
• Ensure designs comply with codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Contribute to safety, quality, and innovation within the team.

• Ensure designs are developed in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.

Here’s what you’ll need

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience, including internships, co-ops, or academic project experience.
• Familiarity with or exposure to Revit through coursework, internships, projects, or professional experience.
• Basic understanding of mechanical building systems and engineering principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain shortly after hire.
• Internship or co-op experience related to building systems, consulting engineering, or facility design.
• Exposure to HVAC load calculations, energy modeling, or sustainable design principles.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or other design and coordination tools.

The base salary range for this position is $62,500.00 to $88,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
