Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and deliver building systems including HVAC, chilled and heating water, plumbing, and related components. The role requires collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams from preliminary design through site construction, with two on-site days per week in Albany.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, 2+ years of relevant experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• At least 2 years of practical experience in building systems (HVAC, chilled/heating water, plumbing, construction).
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams from design to site construction.
• Ability to work onsite (hybrid) two days per week in Albany.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for schedule and technical quality of engineering tasks per client expectations, scope, budget and schedule.
• Provide on-site assistance during startup, coordinating work with staff and discipline lead.
• Deliver design, development, evaluation, recommendation and specification of engineered building systems and products (HVAC, cleanrooms, water systems, exhaust).
• Grow through mentorship, maintain curiosity, multi-task and collaborate to drive project impact.

You will be accountable for schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget and schedule. You’ll also provide on-site assistance during startup, coordinating work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead. Your multi-discipline, highly interactive team will successfully deliver on the design, development, application, evaluation, recommendation, and specification of engineered systems and products for building engineered systems and products for building HVAC, cleanrooms, chilled and heating water, and process exhaust.

Here’s what you’ll need

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• At least 2 years of practical application of mechanical engineering design in building systems, such as HVAC, chilled and heating water systems, plumbing, and construction
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams from preliminary design through site construction
• Ability to work onsite (hybrid) two days per week in Albany.

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Engineer in Training (EIT)
• Working knowledge of Revit or AutoCAD software. With prior experience in Navisworks
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas
• Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base
• Passion for buildings and construction

The base salary range for this position is $69,500.00 to $95,500.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
