Job summary

Kenworth Truck Company, part of PACCAR, is seeking an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer – Suspension in Kirkland, WA. You will design and develop heavy-duty truck suspensions, manage cradle-to-grave projects, and collaborate with internal and external teams using Creo to optimize parts and assemblies.

The role emphasizes project management, Six Sigma usage, and adherence to the Product Creation Process. A BSME is required; a Master's in business or engineering and a P.E.

Qualifications

• BSME required; Masters degree in business or engineering and P.E. certificate preferred.
• 0-1 years of experience in the specification and design of complex automotive components preferred; proficiency using Creo or other solids modeling software preferred
• Past experience working onsite at a PACCAR facility preferred
• Competence in the use of personal computer software such as word processing, database, and spreadsheets
• Familiarity with project management methods and tools
• Candidate should be willing to make use of engineering processes and techniques and be resourceful in solving complex technical problems
• Requires independent judgment and effective project management
• Ability to manage costs, time and resources; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop heavy-duty truck suspensions within the Core Suspension group.
• Manage cradle-to-grave suspension projects including front/rear suspensions, axles, brakes, wheels.
• Handle REIs, regulation changes, PLRs, field service, and OAR support.
• Gain knowledge of the project release process by working with internal and external organizations.
• Use Creo to create optimized parts and assemblies.
• Collaborate with internal/external organizations to validate designs.
• Work through the Product Creation Process using Tollgate and apply Six Sigma skills.
