Job summary

KION North America is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Design Engineer in Summerville, SC to support product improvements and translate customer requirements into technical offerings for our powered industrial truck portfolio.

The role emphasizes creating BOMs and drawings, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring designs meet cost and technical targets while adhering to applicable standards. An entry-level engineer will grow in a multinational environment with diverse teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (BSME or BSMET preferred).
• Solid modeling experience and ability to create detailed drawings (NX preferred).
• Basic knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Knowledge of welded structures design and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with ITSDF, UL, ISO standards is a plus.
• Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with Bills of Materials in an MRP system (SAP preferred).
• Excellent communication and cross-cultural collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to improve functionality and cost of the truck portfolio.
• Support Production with technical questions.
• Design custom engineered solutions per customer requirements.
• Create Bills of Material, drawings and Engineering Change Notices.
• Ensure designs meet cost/technical targets and standards.
• Communicate effectively with product management, purchasing, manufacturing engineering, planning, quality, and production teams.
• Communicate across all levels of the organization.
