Job summary

Logisnext Americas Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer in Houston to research, develop, test, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components.

You will design assemblies in Creo, release engineering orders, BOMs, and drawings, and support manufacturing and service teams on new product introductions. The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering, strong CAD skills, and the ability to collaborate with suppliers and consultants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Practical mechanical engineering knowledge.
  • Creo or equivalent 3D CAD modeling experience.

Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, design, and test mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components and systems using engineering principles.

  • Create part numbers, BOMs, and assembly instructions using enterprise systems (BPCS or SAP).
  • Release CAD drawings, ECOs, kitbooks, and related documentation for new products.
  • Verify drawings, ECOs, and BOMs for accuracy and manufacturability.
  • Improve processes by updating design guides and best practices.

About The Role

Design Engineer is responsible for researching, developing, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components and systems by applying engineering principles and techniques. Designs piece-part and sub-assemblies using Creo or equivalent CAD software. Creates and checks Engineering Orders, BOM, drawings, and technical documentation (Technical Report, DRBFM's, etc.) to release a new product. This position provides technical support to Manufacturing, Test Operations, Technical Publications, Service Engineering, Product Marketing, and Purchasing. Member of New Product Development (NPD) design team working under Senior Design Engineer, Design Leader, or Manager.

What You Will Do
  • Research, develop, design, and test mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components and systems by applying engineering principles and techniques to meet customer specifications or market expectations.
  • Problem solving: Troubleshoot assembly issues, advising service about field issues, advising inspection about quality issues and sales about engineering questions.
  • Creation of part numbers, bills of materials (BOM's), assembly instructions using enterprise system such as BPCS or SAP.
  • Release documentation including Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings (piece part, sub-assembly and assemblies), kitbooks, and engineering change orders (ECO).
  • Verifying the accuracy of drawings, engineering change orders (ECO), bill of materials (BOM), and assembly instructions to meet customer specifications and for manufacturability.
  • Improve current processes by updating and creating best practices and/or design guides.
When & Where
  • Hybrid Work Schedule in office 3 days a week
  • Some domestic travel expected, 1-3 times annually. International travel possible, dependent on project.
Qualifications
What you need to have:
  • Bachelor's Degree (Engineering Degree)
  • Practical/Functional mechanical engineering knowledge.
  • Creo or equivalent 3D CAD modeling experience.
  • Team player with good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and be results oriented.
  • Experience working with consultants and suppliers for component development.
What Would Be Nice To Have
  • Design for manufacturability.
  • Forklift Truck Operators license (OSHA approved).
  • Hands on experience with design, prototype build, testing, costing, and production release.
  • Hands on experience with design and testing of hydraulic components, drive systems, and mechanisms.
  • Experience with mobile industrial product applications such as warehousing, bottling, etc.
  • Perform FEA using Mechanical or equivalent software.
