Job summary

KION North America seeks an entry-level Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The engineer will support product improvements and translate customer requirements into technical offerings for our powered industrial truck portfolio.

Responsibilities include creating Bills of Materials, drawings, and change notices, ensuring designs meet cost and performance targets, and collaborating with product management, purchasing, manufacturing, planning, quality, and production teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred.
• Experience with solid modeling and creating detailed drawings.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Understanding of welded structures and symbols.
• Familiarity with ITSDF, UL, ISO standards is a plus.
• Proficient with Windows and MS Office applications.
• Experience creating and maintaining Bills of Materials within an MRP system (SAP preferred).
• Strong communication skills and intercultural awareness.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to improve functionality and cost of the existing truck portfolio.
• Support Production team in technical questions.
• Design custom engineered solutions per customer requirements.
• Create Bills of Material, Drawings and Engineering Change Notices.
• Ensure designs meet cost, technical targets and standards.
• Communicate with product management, purchasing, manufacturing engineering, planning, quality and production teams.
• Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
