First Solar Inc. in Perrysburg, OH seeks an entry-level corporate controls engineer to support manufacturing operations, assist with equipment startup, and develop electrical controls designs.

The role includes PLC/HMI programming and data collection to optimize manufacturing processes. The candidate will work on AM shift (6:00 AM–6:10 PM) with a rotating 36/48-hour week schedule, including every other Fri/Sat/Sun.

Qualifications

• Associates/Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field; or equivalent years of work experience.
• Minimum 1–5 years of manufacturing equipment controls engineering experience.
• Understands controls engineering techniques for global facilities including North America, Asia, and Europe.
• Proficient use of AutoCAD drafting software to create electrical schematic and panel layouts.
• Experience programming Rockwell Automation PLCs, including ladder and function block diagrams.
• Experience programming Rockwell Automation HMI (PanelView, FactoryTalk View ME/SE).
• Experience designing and commissioning at least two control networks (ControlNet/DeviceNet/Profibus/Ethernet).
• Familiar with robotics systems programming, safety requirements, and implementation practices.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic computer hardware.

Responsibilities

• Supports manufacturing facilities, including remote support of world-wide facilities.
• Designs, programs, and coordinates small-scale control systems and projects.
• Assists with coordination of new equipment installation and implementation.
• Maintains and updates manufacturing process tool electrical drawings, documenting equipment changes.
• Troubleshoots and resolves equipment controls related issues.
• Interacts with multiple departments to ensure adherence to corporate controls policies and standards.
• Assists senior engineers on large projects.
• Maintains effective communication and teamwork.
• Adheres to safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
