Job summary

Tennova Healthcare- LaFollette Medical Center is seeking an entry-level Maintenance Engineer I to perform routine maintenance on facility systems and hospital equipment. You will work under supervision, conduct inspections, complete PM tasks, and assist senior staff to keep patient care areas safe and functional.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, maintaining records, coordinating with staff, and providing weekend/emergency relief as needed.

Qualifications

• Technical School or formal training in facility maintenance, mechanical systems, or related field preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience in facilities maintenance in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and performs basic repairs on mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing systems and hospital equipment.
• Responds to work requests promptly and completes tasks without valid written complaints.
• Conducts routine inspections to identify safety hazards and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Ensures maintenance work adheres to Joint Commission standards and local codes.
• Maintains maintenance records, including work orders, materials, and hours.
• Coordinates with hospital staff to minimize disruptions to patient care.
• Maintains inventory and procures materials to support maintenance operations.
• Provides weekend and emergency relief to maintain uninterrupted hospital services.
• Documents preventive maintenance and regulatory tasks per department policy.
• Reports malfunctions and takes action in emergencies to ensure safety.
• Ensures proper hand-off of unresolved trouble calls for follow-up.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains reliable attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
