Job summary

Coherent Corp. is seeking a skilled Machinist to provide machining services and ensure safe operation of shop equipment. The role emphasizes timely completion of priority jobs, adherence to safety standards, and support for new equipment installations.

Requires hands-on experience with band saws, lathes, milling machines and a surface grinder, plus strong communication and teamwork to coordinate with other machinists. U.S. citizenship or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• 1 to 3 years as a Machine Shop Apprentice or in Trades Training.
• Must understand machine shop safety and procedures.
• Familiar with band saws, lathes, milling machines and surface grinder.

Responsibilities

• Effectively performs emergency and unscheduled repairs and preventative maintenance tasks per policies and procedures
• Responsible for completing maintenance activities on schedule and within quality standards to limit equipment downtime
• Successfully performs maintenance related activities correlated to the installation of new equipment and process controls
• Accurately completes and communicates required documentation of work orders, status updates and service records
• Directs assigned projects including procurement, installation, renovations, and modifications per PSM compliance standards and within safe work practices
• Approaches all activities with a “safety first” attitude, keeping work, storage, and supply areas clean and organized
