Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Pittsburgh seeks a skilled machinist/maintenance technician to support the machine shop across departments. You will operate band saws, lathes, mills and grinders, perform emergency repairs, and help install new equipment while maintaining safety, quality and on-time delivery.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in trades or as an apprentice, strong computer skills and a customer-service mindset, with willingness to work M-F daytime shifts and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Must work with a wide variety of materials and tooling using band saws, horizontal saws, lathes, milling machines and a surface grinder.
• Must use hand tools including drills, saws, die grinders.
• Must be customer service oriented.
• Must possess good communication skills.
• Must interact positively with other machinists.
• Must work rotating/off-shift pattern; overtime may be required.
• Strong computer skills (emails/web) enabled.

Responsibilities

• Performs emergency and unscheduled repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Participates in the Emergency Response Team and maintains required training/certifications.
• Completes maintenance on schedule to limit downtime and supports new equipment installations.
• Documents work orders, status updates and service records.
• Directs projects including procurement, installation, renovations per standards.
• Maintains safety and organized work areas.
