Job summary

Moog in Blacksburg, VA is hiring an Entry Level Machinist for an onsite, full-time role on all shifts with a Monday–Friday schedule. The position offers a sign-on bonus and opportunities to develop skills in basic drilling, turning, milling, and tool handling.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, or completion of a Machine Technology program, basic math proficiency, and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred. Otherwise, the ability to understand and apply work instructions in English, and basic arithmetic.
• At least one year completion of a Machine Technology program or equivalent.
• ATDM graduates encouraged to apply.
• Proficiency in general mathematics
• Knowledge of machine shop gauges and machines

Responsibilities

• Perform basic drill press, lathe, milling and grinding operations.
• Care for turning/plunge and form tools.
• Operate power tools, grinders, belt sanders, and taps.
• Complete required paperwork.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Title : Entry Level Machinist

Work Schedule: Onsite - Blacksburg, VA We are currently hiring Entry-Level Machinists and have opportunities available on all shifts. This is a full-time, onsite position based in Blacksburg, VA, with a Monday through Friday schedule.

This position is eligible for a sign on bonus.

To be considered for the Entry Level Machinist role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

• High School diploma or GED preferred. Otherwise, demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English, and demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• At least one-year completion of an approved Machine Technology program, including high school or vocational program or equivalent.
• ATDM (Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing) graduates encouraged to apply.
• Proficiency in general mathematics
• Knowledge of machine shop gauges and machines

As an Entry Level Machinist, you will:

• Perform basic drill press, lathe, milling machine, and grinding operations.
• Responsible for the care and application of turning/plunge and form tools.
• Operate shear vise, tapping machine (manual and power), and understand different styles and types of taps and dies (metric and standard)
• Operate different types of power hand tools, grinders, drills, belt sanders, disc sanders, sand, and bead blasters.
• Operate and understand power band saw, cut off saw, proper selection of speeds, feeds, tooth size, blade welding, guide setting, and blade replacement.
• Complete required paperwork
• Other duties as assigned

Salary Range Transparency:

Blacksburg, VA $18.50-$20.00 Hourly
