Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Aircraft Low Observables Mechanic 1 at Whiteman AFB, MO. This entry-level role requires a security clearance (active preferred) and involves working in a classified environment with restricted devices.

The position offers varied shifts (including 1st and 2nd) and potential overtime. Candidates must meet physical requirements and obtain necessary clearances to support the B-2 modification team or Contract Field Team.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all aircraft low observable outer mold line structures, materials, and applications.
• Prepares composite or metallic surfaces for coating applications by sanding, stripping, masking, and related tasks.
• Mixes and applies sealants, gap fillers and coatings prior to paint, using heating devices as needed.
• Mixes and applies paints and coatings to manufacturer specs with proper spraying or brush/roller techniques.
• Applies surface details to manufacturer specifications and verifies material usage.
• Sets up and operates material testers and mixers; verifies application/condition of LO materials.
• May perform similar duties in aircraft build, modification or maintenance.
• Must obtain and maintain qualifications as directed by supervisor.
