Job summary

NY Creates is seeking an Instrumentation & Calibration Technician-TECH I in Albany, NY. This entry-level role offers structured on-the-job training and mentorship to develop skills in calibration, electrical systems, troubleshooting, and industrial control equipment.

You will learn to work with pressure, temperature, flow, level, pH, and conductivity instrumentation, and gain exposure to PLCs and control systems while adhering to safety and documentation practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic math, computer, and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in instrumentation, electrical systems, automation, or maintenance.
• Ability to work in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspection, testing, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems.
• Learn to calibrate instruments measuring pressure, temperature, flow, level, pH and conductivity.
• Safely use multimeters, calibrators, pressure calibrators and other test equipment.
• Assist with installation, replacement and commissioning of field instrumentation.
• Troubleshoot 4-20 mA loops, analog signals and basic electrical circuits.
• Document calibration and maintenance activities in CMMS and other records.
• Develop knowledge of PLCs and industrial automation.
• Read P&IDs, electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Maintain tools and work areas in a safe condition.
• Follow safety requirements including LOTO and PPE.
