Job summary

The State of Hawaiʻi Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in Halawa/Kalihi is recruiting for Recruitment Number 26-0398. This entry-level position trains in the basic principles, methods and techniques of professional human services work and provides orientation to the agency’s functions, objectives, policies and procedures.

Candidates will begin with close supervision, handling cases of limited scope and complexity and progressively develop toward advanced responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree including a minimum of twelve (12) semester credit hours in counseling, criminal justice, human services, psychology, social work, social welfare, sociology or other behavioral sciences.
• Ability to write clear and comprehensive reports and other documents; read and interpret complex written material; and solve complex problems logically and systematically.
• Must meet PREA requirements as listed (no substantiated sexual abuse/harassment; no disqualifying convictions).

Responsibilities

• This is the entry level in this class with training in basic principles, methods and techniques of professional human services work and orientation to the work organization and its functions.
• Cases are assigned concurrently with orientation and training; initially fewer in number and limited in scope and complexity; progression to higher levels is anticipated.
• Supervision is close and immediate, with work reviewed for compliance and development.
