Job summary

The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in Maui is seeking candidates for an entry level human services position. Training will cover basic principles, methods and procedures; cases are assigned with orientation and progress to higher levels as training continues.

Supervision is close and immediate, and work is reviewed for compliance with instructions and approved practices to ensure development opportunities and readiness for progression.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in counseling, criminal justice, human services, psychology, social work, social welfare, sociology or other behavioral sciences.
• Ability to write clear and comprehensive reports; read and interpret complex written material; and solve complex problems logically and systematically.

Responsibilities

• Entry level with extensive training in basic principles, methods and procedures of professional human services work.
• Cases are assigned concurrently with orientation and training; cases may be limited in scope and complexity at first.
• Supervision is close and immediate; assignments are reviewed for compliance with instructions and approved practices to assure potential for development.
