MBA Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a motivated Human Factors Engineer to support USPS TE&Q in Merrifield, VA.

This entry-level role focuses on human-centered design, ergonomics, usability testing, and safety improvements for automated mail processing equipment nationwide. The engineer will apply biomechanics and cognitive psychology to help engineers design safer, more efficient systems, with responsibilities including user research, system prototyping, risk assessment, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in human factors/ergonomics/usability testing.
• Understanding of human-centered design, biomechanics, usability principles, and workplace safety.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and observational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication with ability to collaborate across technical teams.
• Ability to travel as needed.
• Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening; eligible for Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate equipment, workstations, and environments to improve safety and performance.
• Conduct interviews, surveys, and observations to assess user needs and workflow challenges.
• Design and run usability studies to evaluate interaction with equipment and systems.
• Collaborate with engineering to develop user-friendly interfaces and procedures.
• Identify ergonomic hazards and operational risks in mail processing equipment.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to incorporate human factors into designs and improvements.
