Job summary

The Nines, Portland, a Sage Hospitality property, is seeking a Maintenance Technician 1 – Entry Level to join the engineering team. You will keep building systems in top condition, respond to guest requests, and support the hotel’s historic functionality while ensuring safety and reliability for guests and colleagues.

Ideal candidates have at least 6 months in a similar role, strong teamwork, and the ability to make independent decisions in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade school desired.
• Experience in a maintenance role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to guest requests in a courteous, efficient, safe manner.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on hotel equipment including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler, and related systems.
• Monitor engineering functions during off-hours; respond to emergencies and power failures.
• Make rounds to ensure everything is in working order and maintain logs.
• Complete work orders, document parts used, and communicate supply needs.
• Handle elevator breakdowns and maintain preventive maintenance programs.
• Report unsafe conditions to leadership and perform other duties as assigned by management.
