Job summary

The Nines, a Sage Hospitality property in Portland, seeks a Maintenance Technician 1 – Entry Level to join a team that values craft and genuine guest connection.

You will respond to service calls, perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related equipment, monitor engineering functions when staff are limited, and maintain logs to support operations and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade courses in building maintenance are a plus.
• Minimum 6 months of experience in a similar maintenance role.
• Ability to maintain logs and records; professional presentation and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Respond to guest requests courteously and promptly.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on hotel equipment (kitchen, laundry, boiler, plumbing, pool, HVAC, electrical, guest rooms).
• Monitor engineering functions when full staff is unavailable; respond to emergencies and incidents.
• Make rounds to ensure systems are working properly and document parts used.
• Handle elevator breakdowns and maintain maintenance records.
• Report unsafe conditions to leadership.
