Job summary

Altasciences is seeking a Histology Technician/Technologist in Columbia, Missouri to assist in tissue processing for scientific research. The role includes tissue trimming, embedding, microtomy, and routine H&E staining, with on-the-job training available for those early in their career.

The position emphasizes maintaining a clean lab environment, following SOPs, and developing GLP-compliant practices while advancing hands-on histology skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 1+ year laboratory experience required.
• Associates/Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
• HT (ASCP) eligible within one year of employment.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process tissue samples for histopathologic evaluation.
• Perform trimming, embedding, and orientation of tissue specimens.
• Use microtomy to prepare paraffin-embedded slides.
• Conduct routine H&E staining and cover slips.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment; keep clean workspace.
• Document equipment use and inventory; adhere to SOPs and SOP deviations.
