Job summary

The City of Conroe is hiring an entry-level Buyer to assist the Purchasing Manager with government procurement. You will help ensure compliant purchasing and timely deliveries, working closely with vendors and city staff.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and 3 years of government purchasing experience; NIGP/NPI certification is preferred, and strong Microsoft Word/Excel skills are required. This is an on-site role in Conroe, TX.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 3 years of government purchasing experience required.
• Certification by NIGP or NPI preferred; ability to achieve similar.
• Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency required.
• Knowledge of government purchasing laws and related policies.
• Strong typing (40 WPM) and professional communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Purchasing Manager with day-to-day government purchasing activities.
• Ensure purchases comply with state and federal laws and City policy.
• Communicate with vendors to obtain items and ensure timely delivery.
• Coordinate with city departments and directors as needed.
