Balcones Country Club in Austin, TX seeks an Agronomy Laborer to support daily golf course maintenance and landscape tasks, under close supervision, to learn turf management basics.

This entry-level role covers setting up course, mowing greens, trimming, watering, and basic irrigation, with safety training and PPE. Golf operations run seven days a week with rotating weekend shifts.

No prior experience required; a driver’s license is preferred and growth within the department is encouraged.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; landscaping or grounds keeping a plus.
• Must be able to work outdoors in extreme conditions (heat, rain, cold).
• Reliable, positive attitude, and able to work flexible shifts including weekends.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Willingness to learn and grow within the department.
• Complies with safety policies and uses PPE.
• Reports hazards immediately.
• Participates in safety training.

Responsibilities

• Assists with day-to-day course setup and maintenance under supervision.
• Uses hand tools and powered equipment (e.g., shovels, rakes, string trimmers, blowers, spreaders).
• Maintains bunkers, trims landscape areas, spreads mulch or pine straw, and removes debris.
• Learns to mow greens, tees, fairways, and roughs using walk-behind or riding mowers.
• Assists with watering and basic irrigation maintenance.
• Operates utility carts and helps transport materials.
• Supports clean-up and cleanliness of equipment and facilities.
