Job summary

Rail Management Services is hiring immediately for Gate Inspector / Auto Security Clerk at the Norfolk Southern Petersburg Auto Terminal in Petersburg, VA. This entry-level role trains you on auto inspections, paperwork, and safety procedures in a rail yard environment.

Starting pay is $17 per hour with dayshift availability; overtime may be required. Benefits include weekly pay and probationary health coverage. Applicants must live within a 45-minute commute and pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to pass a 7-year background check and a drug test.
• No GED or high school diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect automobiles arriving and departing the railroad facility with accuracy.
• Oversee and document any damage to units and communicate findings to supervisor.
• Complete required paperwork and maintain a safe, organized inspection area.
• Wear PPE and follow OSHA/HAZMAT regulations when required.
• Maintain knowledge of railyard operations and keep a safe distance from moving equipment.
• Assist in keeping the work area clean and orderly.
