Job summary

Biltmore Workforce Management is seeking an entry-level Gardener I to support horticulture crews with planting, maintenance, and related duties on site. The role involves assisting with installations, weed control, watering, pest management, and special events as needed.

The position requires a high school diploma, plant knowledge, and the ability to work with guests. You will operate basic gardening tools and be open to certification and safe handling of equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Experience with annuals, perennials, shrubs and basic plant ID.
• Independent and team work ability; proactive mindset.
• Good judgment and guest service focus.
• Comfort working with guests in a service setting.
• Ability to operate basic grounds equipment safely.
• WPS certification within 10 days of hire.
• Valid driver's license and ability to be 19+ years old.

Responsibilities

• Perform general grounds maintenance: cleanup, trash removal, weeding, mowing, mulching.
• Assist gardening duties: bed prep, plant installation, cultivation, watering, limited pest control.
• Identify common woody/herbaceous plants in work area.
• Report plant health issues to Supervisor promptly.
• Work weekends/overtime as needed; maintain reliability.
• Operate basic grounds equipment after training with PPE.
• Use hand tools safely (shovels, rakes, hoes, saws).
• Assist in fertilizer/pesticide applications under supervision.
• Apply proper watering techniques and care for plantings.
• Support other duties as required.
