Job summary

The State of Oklahoma is seeking a Food Service Specialist I at Ardmore Veterans Home to prepare, cook and serve meals for regular and special diets in a state hospital setting. Responsibilities include maintaining clean work areas, following diet orders, operating kitchen equipment and delivering trays as needed.

English proficiency is required, and lifting up to 25 pounds may be necessary. Schedule is 10:30am to 7:00pm; full-time position with competitive compensation and benefits under state

Qualifications

• Education and Experience: None required.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: basic food preparation techniques; food service operations; proper sanitation practices; basic mathematics.
• Ability to carry out routine tasks and follow instructions; establish and maintain working relationships; proficient in English

Responsibilities

• Prepares foods, salads, and desserts; cooks or bakes a variety of items.
• Supplies unit with meat, fish or fowl as ordered; cuts and prepares meat, poultry or fish.
• Cleans and prepares foods using knives, slicers, peelers and equipment; follows diet orders.
• Operates dishwasher; cleans and hand washes pots, pans, dishes and utensils.
• Removes refuse from kitchen area; sweeps and mops kitchen and dining areas.
• Loads and delivers food carts or trays; picks up trays after use.
• Defrosts and cleans refrigerators and related equipment.
• Operates state-owned vehicles as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by agency operations.
