Job summary

Sierra Space is recruiting for a Flight Operations/Flight Planning and Design role in Louisville, CO. You will design spacecraft trajectories for the Dream Chaser program using FreeFlyer and Matlab, and collaborate across hardware/software teams to ensure mission timelines, procedures, trajectories, and attitudes are integrated.

After completing required training, you will provide real-time mission support from the MCC in Louisville and participate in flight controller certification.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Typically entry-level 0-2 years of experience.
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
• Strong background in orbital mechanics or spacecraft attitude dynamics.
• Clear and concise communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability and willingness to learn new subjects and disciplines.
• Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
• Self-starter and problem-solver who works in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure as part of a team.
• Position based in Louisville, CO. Some shiftwork will be required.

Responsibilities

• Plan missions for the Dream Chaser program using FreeFlyer and Matlab.
• Collaborate with hardware/software engineers and flight science analysts to integrate timelines, procedures, trajectories and attitudes.
• Complete training requirements and participate in training simulations toward flight controller certification.
• Provide real-time mission support from the MCC in Louisville, CO after certification.
• Support mission operations during shift work.
