Job summary

Stevens Transport is seeking an entry-level Fleet Equipment Inspector at its Dallas, TX terminal. This role conducts initial inspections of tractors and trailers as they enter the yard and all final inspections before departure, with no prior repair experience required.

Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills.
  • General understanding of mechanical/technical terms.
  • Experience working on brakes.
  • Valid Class C driver's license.
  • High school diploma.
  • Ability to clearly read, write and speak English.
  • Basic math calculations.
  • Attending or attended Technical School with focus on Diesel Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting drivers on the yard in a timely, friendly manner.
  • Performing multi-point walk around inspections of all units.
  • Verifying vehicle identification and recording mileage.
  • Assessing exterior damage and defects, including condition of tires, frame, and mechanical components.
  • Checking oil and coolant levels, air filter restriction and tire pressure.
  • Data entry.
  • Ensuring full compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment that complies with OSHA standards.
