Job summary

Fortis Fire & Safety is seeking a Security Technician Helper for our Fort Myers, FL team. This entry-level role supports the installation of fire alarm and security systems on new construction and retrofit projects in the Fort Myers region. On-the-job training and a growth path in life-safety are provided.

We value reliability and a hands-on approach, with safety as a priority. This is a physical role involving outdoor work, tool usage, and collaboration with senior technicians.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in general labor, construction, or a related trade; Security or low-voltage industry experience a plus.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work safely as part of a team.
• Basic familiarity with hand and power tools.
• Willingness to learn low-voltage systems, tools, and industry terminology.
• Ability to work outdoors and on active construction sites in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver's license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Assist Technicians with the installation of fire alarm and security system components, including mounting devices and panels.
• Pull cable and run conduit through attics, crawl spaces, ceilings, and other confined or hard-to-access areas.
• Perform manual labor tasks such as drilling, fishing wire, and mounting equipment.
• Load, unload, and transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites.
• Support material staging, tool organization, and jobsite setup/cleanup to keep installations on schedule.
• Assist with basic wiring and terminations as directed and trained by senior technicians.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site in accordance with company and OSHA safety standards, including proper use of PPE, ladders, and lifts.
• Learn to read basic blueprints, wiring diagrams, and device layouts under the guidance of senior staff.
• Communicate professionally with Lead Technicians, Project Managers, and site contacts.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support project completion.
