Job Description: Financial Advisor at Northwestern Mutual Wellesley

Becoming a financial advisor at Northwestern Mutual Wellesley offers a unique opportunity to start your own business and help clients achieve their financial goals through comprehensive planning. As a financial advisor, you will:

  1. Grow your client base through networking, referrals, and delivering excellent service
  2. Create personalized, holistic financial plans tailored to each client
  3. Manage and support clients' financial plans to meet their objectives
  4. Build lasting relationships to assist clients at every life stage

Initially, you'll start as a financial representative focusing on client acquisition and obtaining necessary licenses. Our award-winning training programs equip you with the skills and knowledge to succeed in building a financial planning practice, utilizing Northwestern Mutual’s proprietary planning software to deliver comprehensive financial solutions.

We support entrepreneurial growth, allowing you to shape your practice according to your long-term vision—whether that involves opening an office, joining a team, or becoming an advanced advisor. Northwestern Mutual is recognized for its highly trained sales force and ongoing professional development, including a curriculum designed for your first three years in the business.

Licensing requirements include Life/Accident & Health Certifications, Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), and Series 6, 7, and 63. We offer pre-payment or reimbursement for course fees and materials.

Income potential includes:

  • Average annual earnings of $61K-$119K for new advisors (2018-2023 data)
  • Top quartile advisors earning $137K-$250K annually
