Job summary

SGS North America Inc. is seeking a Field Operations Technician I to collect samples and observe product and raw materials for laboratory analysis. You will handle sample labeling, delivery to the lab, and preparation tasks while following safety protocols.

The role requires high school or equivalent and may include driving duties or MSHA/TWIC certifications. Training is provided, and shifts are 8 hours on a rotating schedule with potential overtime.

Qualifications

• Language Skills: Intermediate English required (Advanced Preferred).
• Mathematical Skills: Basic required.
• Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Intermediate level required, uses logical and practical approach to solve problems.
• Ability to effectively communicate (in writing or verbally), presenting information to internal or external customers.
• Ability to follow directions to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedures.
• Ability to work independently under moderate supervision.
• Team player attitude with customer care focus.

Responsibilities

• Collects samples as product and/or raw materials being transferred to containers, vessels, barges, trucks, and/or rail.
• Delivers sample to laboratory for analysis.
• Performs preparation of samples, reduction and division of appropriate sizes.
• Gathers samples at specified locations, states of processing and time intervals.
• Performs sample screening and/or related tests.
• Ensures PPE is worn and safety procedures are followed.
• Maintains organized equipment and containers before and after use.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
