Job summary

Jacobs in Loveland, CO is seeking an Entry-Level Field Technician to support our Colorado upstream oil and gas asset-retirement program and other environmental projects for government and private-sector clients.

Based out of the Loveland area, you'll perform environmental sampling, remediation system inspections, data collection, and site monitoring activities, with ~85% field time and the rest on project documentation, logistics, and data management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in environmental science, environmental engineering, geology or related field.
  • 0–2 years of environmental, engineering, geology, scientific, or related field experience.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate field documentation.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and lift/carry field equipment up to ~40 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel across Colorado and stay overnight near project sites.
  • Commitment to safety and protecting coworkers, clients, and the public.
  • Strong communication, teamwork and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Perform environmental sampling (groundwater, soil, soil vapor, surface water) and document findings.
  • Inspect remediation systems and monitor project sites.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and manage field data entry and logistics.
  • Support project documentation, writing, and data management.

We are seeking anEntry-Level Field Technician to support our growing Colorado upstream oil and gas asset-retirement program and other environmental projects for government and private-sector clients.

Based out of the Loveland area, you'll support a variety of field and office tasks associated with environmental sampling, remediation system inspections, data collection, and site monitoring activities. Responsibilities include environmental sampling (groundwater, soil, soil vapor, or surface water), field documentation, subcontractor oversight, equipment troubleshooting, data entry, and coordination of field efforts. Approximately85% of your time will be spent in the field, with the remaining time supporting project documentation and writing, logistics, and data management.

This position is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys fieldwork, problem-solving, and working collaboratively to support environmental compliance and remediation projects.

Here’s what you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Geology or related field.
  • 0-2 years of environmental, engineering, geology, scientific, or related field experience
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate field documentation.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and lift and carry field equipment and sample coolers weighing up to approximately 40 pounds.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including hardhats, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toe boots, and respiratory protection when required.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Colorado, work early field schedules, and occasionally stay overnight near project sites.
  • Commitment to working safely and protecting subcontractors, coworkers, clients, and the public
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain certification.
Ideally, You’ll Also Have
  • Experience using GPS units, mobile data-collection applications, field meters, or similar equipment
  • Experience completing field logs, inspection forms, or other detailed documentation
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Experience with environmental sampling or field data collection.
  • General equipment maintenance experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The base salary range for this position is $58,656.00 to $87,890.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
