Your impact

At Jacobs, we're focused on solving today's environmental challenges by delivering innovative and sustainable solutions for our clients and communities. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead environmental investigation, remediation, compliance, and asset-retirement projects for upstream oil and gas clients, as well as government and private-sector environmental programs throughout New Mexico and the western United States.

Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico you'll serve as a key leader within our growing environmental practice, overseeing project execution from planning through closure while managing multidisciplinary project teams. This role will provide direct supervision and mentorship to junior technical staff, including environmental scientists, engineers, geologists, and field technicians supporting environmental remediation and asset-retirement activities.

You’ll be responsible for delivering complex environmental projects involving upstream oil and gas facilities, wellsites, production infrastructure, pipeline assets, facility decommissioning, site investigations, remediation programs, regulatory compliance, and closure activities. Working directly with clients, regulators, subcontractors, and Jacobs technical specialists, you'll ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with client objectives and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities include project planning and execution, client relationship management, scope and budget development, proposal preparation, subcontractor procurement and management, contract administration, financial performance tracking, invoicing, risk management, technical review, resource planning, and staff development. You'll maintain regular communication with clients and regulatory agencies while helping identify and pursue new business opportunities within the environmental and energy sectors.

In this role, you'll balance project delivery with team leadership, ensuring junior staff receive appropriate guidance, mentorship, and opportunities for professional growth. Safety will remain your highest priority as you promote Jacobs’ culture of caring and excellence across all field and office operations.

At Jacobs, we're partnering across the globe to create the best project outcomes by maximizing the design, digital technology, and support capabilities of our Global Integrated Delivery (GID) teams. By joining Jacobs, you'll collaborate with technical experts across the company while helping grow a high-performing environmental project delivery team in New Mexico.

This is a hybrid position that combines office leadership, client engagement, project site visits, and remote work flexibility as needed to support project delivery and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead environmental investigation, remediation, compliance, and asset-retirement projects for upstream oil and gas clients and other industrial, commercial, and government clients.
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for clients, maintaining strong working relationships and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, forecasting, invoicing, and overall financial performance.
  • Direct and mentor a team consisting of environmental scientists, engineers, geologists, and field technicians.
  • Supervise and support the Entry-Level Environmental Engineer/Scientist and Entry-Level Field Technician positions assigned to the New Mexico asset-retirement program.
  • Develop work plans, proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and subcontractor scopes of work.
  • Coordinate field activities including site characterization, environmental sampling, remediation system operation and maintenance, construction oversight, excavation, and closure activities.
  • Oversee subcontractor procurement, contracting, mobilization, performance, and safety.
  • Interface with state and federal regulatory agencies and support permit compliance activities.
  • Review and approve technical reports, work plans, closure reports, and regulatory submittals.
  • Support business development efforts through client engagement, proposal preparation, and identification of follow-on opportunities.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with Jacobs and client health and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with Jacobs Global Integrated Delivery teams and technical specialists to deliver high-quality project outcomes.
