Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an Entry Level Field/Office Engineer in our Eastern District. The role supports field engineering, office engineering and estimating on transportation and heavy civil projects across the Northeast, with opportunities to travel and relocate as needed.

You will interpret drawings, assist with takeoffs, prepare work packages, and help manage safety, schedules, and cost data, working with a team to deliver high-quality infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• 0-1 years of related professional experience in the construction field.
• Ability to travel and relocate as required.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
• Strong work ethic - Willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Must have a valid Driver's License.
• Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision.
• Perform quantity calculations and measure completed/installed materials and work.
• Assist in preparing work plans and work packages.
• Assist in field surveying and layout support including elevation and control points.
• Assist in compiling daily labor timesheets.
• Assist in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s).
• Assist in providing solutions related to underground tunneling and construction operations.
• Participate in jobsite safety reviews and toolbox meetings.
• Order and schedule material deliveries.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite.
• Supervise field operations.
• Assist in field and office data management and cost-related documents.
