Job summary

Sarasota County Government is seeking an entry-level handyperson to uphold and maintain County facilities and grounds. The role involves cleaning, safety checks, and basic maintenance tasks to ensure a safe, functional environment.

The position offers a Monday–Friday schedule, starting pay of $16.50 per hour (Step 1), with benefits beginning within 60 days of hire and opportunities for advancement. A Florida driver’s license is required at hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License at time of hire is required.

Responsibilities

• Check and clean facilities and exterior grounds, and pick up debris around buildings, parking lots, and dumpster areas.
• Sweep or blow off sidewalks/walkways around buildings.
• Empty exterior trash receptacles as needed.
• General cleaning of building interiors including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, emptying trash receptacles, and surface cleaning.
• Secondary restroom check/cleaning and ensure disposable supplies are stocked.
• Perform building safety checks and report unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
• Communicate with internal and external customers, Building Superintendents, and supervisors.
