Job summary

Sedgwick County is seeking a Building Maintenance Worker I - FACILITIES MAINTENANCE in Wichita, KS. This is an entry-level role performing general maintenance to keep county facilities safe and functional for public use.

Responsibilities cover plumbing, electrical and GBM tasks with a Monday–Friday schedule and an on-call rotation. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and a valid driver’s license; preference for mechanical aptitude.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid US driver's license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance.
• 0-2 years of experience as per Sedgwick County policy.

Responsibilities

• Perform plumbing duties including repairing/rebuilding faucets, flush valves, shut off stops, disposals and drain lines; unclog drains; repair lawn irrigation; remove and replace toilets and urinals.
• Electrical tasks such as changing lamps/bulbs, converting to LED, and assisting electricians.
• GBM duties including carpentry, door/lock repairs, painting, cleaning and basic truck operation; remove/replace ceiling tiles; general upkeep of county buildings.
