Job summary

Sedgwick County is seeking a Trade Specialist IV – Facilities Maintenance in Wichita, KS. This role performs diagnostic troubleshooting and repair across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems in county properties.

Responsibilities include maintaining boilers, chillers, pumps, and sheet metal ductwork, with a focus on safety, record-keeping, and adherence to environmental standards. Requires extensive hands-on experience and appropriate licenses.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Master HVAC license required.
• Refrigerant recovery certification (Type I/II or universal) required.
• Valid US driver’s license without restrictions required.
• City of Wichita Backflow Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently troubleshoot and repair HVAC, mechanical, and control systems.
• Repair and install electrical fixtures and devices; service and repair cameras and monitors.
• Repair plumbing and gas systems; maintain valves, traps, and regulators.
• Perform general building maintenance, carpentry, painting, and lock repairs.
• Fabricate and install sheet metal ductwork; modify gas supply lines as needed.
