Job summary

City & Borough of Juneau is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Helper to assist in repair and upkeep of CBJ buildings and spaces. This role requires basic tools, willingness to learn, and ability to work as part of a team across multiple sites with a CBJ-provided vehicle.

The position follows a Monday–Friday schedule with potential overtime to ensure facilities are maintained, and includes responsibilities from painting to inventory management in a CMMS system.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience in construction and repair of buildings and structures or components at the apprentice or helper level.

Responsibilities

• Assist with repair and maintenance of CBJ facilities (painting interior/exterior, unclog drains, pressure washing, patching walls).
• Inspect fire extinguishers and assist higher-level mechanics with complex work.
• Help organize and maintain inventory and the CMMS (computer maintenance management system).
• Work at remote sites in CBJ provided vehicle and report back to Mt Jumbo Shop.
