Job summary

WM is seeking an entry-level Hazardous Waste Technician to support on-site drum movements, bulking, crushing and related tasks in a safety-focused environment. You will assist when extra personnel are needed and contribute to both hazardous and non-hazardous waste projects.

The role emphasizes PPE usage, adherence to ISO procedures, and compliance with EPA/OSHA/DOT regulations. Excellent teamwork and willingness to learn are essential for success at WM.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (accredited).
• No prior experience required (in addition to education).
• Ability to pass a respirator FIT test - clean shaven.
• Ability to obtain a 40-HR HAZWOPER Certification within 30 days of employment (WM Provided).
• Pre-assignment and/or pre-hire drug/alcohol testing may be required by customer contracts.
• Testing may include urinalysis, oral swab, drug hair follicle testing and/or alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Identify best practices to reduce waste volumes and increase operational efficiencies.
• Segregate, label, mark and package waste materials in a safe and compliant manner.
• Collect, pour, transfer, consolidate, repackage and package solid, liquid & sludge material.
• Perform labor-intensive activities such as drum collection, drum bulking, sorting trash for recyclables, and loading of trucks.
• Transfer waste into containers of different sizes.
• Provide labor support at the Hazardous Waste Pad as needed.
• May provide support or direction to less experienced Technicians.
• Wear required personal protective equipment.
• Participate and cooperate in safety processes, including following procedures, trainings and meetings.
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries or property damage.
• Follow ISO 14001/9001 policies and related controls.
• Maintain compliance with EPA, OSHA and DOT regulations.
