Job Description

As an entry-level Civil/Environmental Engineer, you will work with our civil/environmental team performing technical evaluations, planning, design, and construction administration. This role will support our civil and environmental disciplines, and most importantly, help grow our portfolio of work with clients across multiple geographies, primarily based in New Jersey. This position will require work with our project teams in New Jersey with approximately 40% travel to project sites across the country.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform engineering design tasks with guidance from project engineers and project managers on large, complex civil/environmental remediation projects, applying relevant design criteria, standards, and processes for both public and private clients.
2. Assist with field assignments including soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and system Operation and Maintenance (O&M).
3. Oversee subcontractors in the field.
4. Prepare technical reports and evaluate site data to advance projects toward regulatory closure.
5. Establish strong internal collaborative relationships with senior staff.
6. Participate in Kleinfelder’s safety culture.
7. Engage with technical design staff for continuous learning and interaction.

Qualifications:

• B.S. in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering; 0-2 years of relevant experience.
• Willingness to learn site/civil design including site grading, stormwater analysis, erosion/sediment control measures, and earthworks estimation.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Interest in hydrogeology and conceptual site modeling.
• Strong work ethic with excellent organizational, communication, technical writing, and computer skills.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills.
• Willing to travel out of state.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate.
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Certification.
• Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) card.
