SMTC Corporation is seeking a Production Operator I to perform entry-level assembly and processing of electronic components. You will follow work instructions, prepare materials, and assist with quality checks.

The role emphasizes safety, traceability, and continuous improvement in a high-reliability electronics environment. You will collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Materials to meet production schedules, develop proficiency, and contribute to process improvements while

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED is required.
IPC-A-610 Awareness certification is a plus.
Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification is advantageous.
Previous manufacturing/assembly experience preferred.
Ability to read work instructions, drawings, routers, and BOMs.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with manufacturing software.

Responsibilities

Follow approved work instructions, routers, and drawings to perform entry-level manufacturing and assembly.
Assemble components using hand tools and fixtures meeting quality requirements.
Prepare components, materials, and workstations for production activities.
Verify work orders, BOMs, and production documents before starting work.
Perform basic visual inspections and report defects promptly.
Complete production records and maintain traceability of WIP.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work area per 5S/ESD procedures.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support schedules and customer requirements.
Participate in cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives.
Use PPE and equipment according to procedures.
